No running today. I went to a different (better) sports podiatrist yesterday. He was amazing! He looked at my MRI and said that he saw the joint effusion (pocket of fluid in the joint of my foot by my ankle) but he also saw something else going on within the joint. He thinks that when I sprained my foot back in May, that a piece of cartilage broke off (which can happen with a bad sprain) and has been in the joint ever since. This is why my foot hurts the first 5 minutes of running and then gets better...our joints "swell" as we run and when my foot joint got bigger the longer I ran, the cartilage was no longer irritating the joint. So he gave me a shot in my joint and said there are basically two things that can happen: 1) the fluid from the shot (it was a mild form of cortisone) could flush the piece of cartilage out. 2)the shot doesn't get the cartilage out, maybe it's still atattched, and I'll have to get it scoped in a week or so. This would put me out a few weeks of running but I'd still be able to get a good training session in before LA. I'm just happy that I'm getting this taken care of. It's hurt EVERY SINGLE DAY since May. I'm pretty stupid for letting it go this long...but runners are a stubborn breed.
I can bike so I think I'll do that for the next few days. See you all later!
