I hope to really race the last 10K of a marathon and not just "survive" it!

10 miles on a HOT and WINDY morning. Blah. I almost got hit by a car. I am so dang tired! I went wakeboarding yesterday and crashed pretty hard (don't worry James, I didn't break any ribs). But I'm feeling it today.

Today I decided that my quad was feeling good enough to try running some downhill. I ran 4.5 miles up the Big Cottonwood Trail (averaged between 7:30-7:40) and then I ran 5.5 down the trail and around my neighbor hood (average 6:30). I felt good today which was nice since I've been feeling so crappy lately. Beautiful weather too! 55 degrees felt brisk and refreshing.

Warmed up 3 miles to Cottonwood track. 6x800 (400 recovery). Splits- 2:55, 2:54, 2:54, 2:52, 2:52, 2:52. I haven't run on the track since the middle of June so I wasn't surprised that it was harder and slower than I wanted. Onward and upward right? 2.5 mile cooldown to hit 10. 

New Balance sent me some new shoes to test for them. They are pretty sweet! They are light weight and have a low profile so I think I'll only run my speed workouts in them. I don't want to run too far in them or I'll hurt myself.

9 miles around Murray. Nothing exciting. I think eating a bowl of ice cream before bed every night this week has helped.

20 miles with Emily through Holladay. Nice and rolly. I love Holladay...definitely my favorite running area. I felt SO much better this week. 7:10 AP
