Another great SG marathon in the books! I love this course. I love the scenery. I love the volunteer's. I am pretty happy with how everything played out but I'm not 100% satisfied. I really wanted that sub 2:50 but wasn't able to finish strong like I did in 2013. I'm already thinking about my next race and how I can improve my training.

We drove down to SG Friday afternoon. I dropped off my bottles at the expo and we went straight to the condo. While everyone else went swimming, I went to the grocery store to get my usual prerace dinner (chicken and white rice). When I got back in my car to drive home, it was dead. Like dead dead. No turn over. Nothing! I ended up asking a nice family for a ride back to my condo. I was stressing because I didn't know how I was going to get to the race in the morning so I called Angi and she agreed to pick me up (Thank you Angi!).

Race morning: Loaded the bus around 5:00 am. The starting line was pretty warm so I decided it was going to be a sports bra and shorts race day. I'm glad I made that wardrobe decision because I was hot by mile 2! My plan was to hit 13.1 in 1:26-1:27. I wanted to go out pretty conservative and then pick it up around mile 16 and then really race that last 10k. I crossed the half way point in 1:26:14. Angi and I ran together until mile 16 when I surged ahead. I ran a bit with Bill Cobler and that was nice. He said, "Let's get 2:49!" but he picked up the pace a little too much for me. I felt strong until mile 22 and then I tanked. I was in third place until mile 25 and then Angi passed me. I was so happy for her but I was mad at myself that I couldn't go with her. I definitely need to do more long runs ending with tempo's. The last two miles were a death march. I hated feeling that way! Next time, I want to finish strong.

4th overall female, 1st in age group, 1 minute PR. Overall, it was a great day. I will have to load my splits later because my garmin is possessed again and isn't working. Thank you to everyone who sent me words of encouragement. I love this running community. Thanks to Emily, Angi, Jasmine, Cynthia, Rebekah for being such good training partners! And a BIG shout out to Coach Allie. She is the bomb diggity!

Awesome race Jen! I saw you speed past:) I think there is always something we can find to improve on but a lot of times it is all in the day. I think you will get that sub-2:50!

Impressive race Jen. Glad to hear it went well for you. I hope to be as fast as you one day.
