I ran the Chosen Half Marathon today in West Jordan. It was cold and raining almost the entire time...but it was so worth it because it was for a good cause. All the money raised goes to help children get adopted. My church put a team together to help an orphanage in Swaziland, Africa and asked me to be on it a couple months ago so I was happy to run today!
The course was really challenging. Mile 4.5-10 was pretty much straight uphill. Plus, it was raining cats and dogs. My bib actually disintegrated because it got so wet. My shoes were soaked through and I had to stop and retie them at mile 6. My goal for this race was to give it a good effort but not go all out. I wanted it to be a good tempo. Mile 9 was a 7:02...I pretty much decided to not push it hard at that point. I was in first place the entire time so I didn't have anyone to worry about.
