I went and saw my orthopedic doctor this morning and he's pretty sure I have a good case of runners knee. He pushed, pulled, stretched my knee and said the point of pain is on the outside edge of the petallar tendon so that's why my pain is on the outer knee cap and not directly under like most people have. Ice, rest, stretch, blah, blah, blah...

I decided to see where my pain level was at since I haven't run in a few days and I was able to go about 2 miles before it hurt. The last mile was painful and I struggled to get home. Looks like it's going to be a slow/long process.

Rest is best for this type of issue. Get well soon.

Aw man I wonder if that's what I have too. I haven't ran for a week cuz I have a painful swollen knee. Is your swollen too? I'm trying to figure out what I have going on.

Angie, mine isn't swollen. It starts hurting after about 1 mile of running and then gets worse. The pain also starts to move towards the outside of my knee which makes me think I also have some IT band issues. Marathons and my body don't like each other. I should really stick to 1/2's! Much easier on your body. I hope your knee feels better soon! Ice it for 15 minutes 2-3 times a day and rest. I wish you lived closer so we could be swimming buddies!
