Another great SG marathon in the books! I love this course. I love the scenery. I love the volunteer's. I am pretty happy with how everything played out but I'm not 100% satisfied. I really wanted that sub 2:50 but wasn't able to finish strong like I did in 2013. I'm already thinking about my next race and how I can improve my training.

We drove down to SG Friday afternoon. I dropped off my bottles at the expo and we went straight to the condo. While everyone else went swimming, I went to the grocery store to get my usual prerace dinner (chicken and white rice). When I got back in my car to drive home, it was dead. Like dead dead. No turn over. Nothing! I ended up asking a nice family for a ride back to my condo. I was stressing because I didn't know how I was going to get to the race in the morning so I called Angi and she agreed to pick me up (Thank you Angi!).

Race morning: Loaded the bus around 5:00 am. The starting line was pretty warm so I decided it was going to be a sports bra and shorts race day. I'm glad I made that wardrobe decision because I was hot by mile 2! My plan was to hit 13.1 in 1:26-1:27. I wanted to go out pretty conservative and then pick it up around mile 16 and then really race that last 10k. I crossed the half way point in 1:26:14. Angi and I ran together until mile 16 when I surged ahead. I ran a bit with Bill Cobler and that was nice. He said, "Let's get 2:49!" but he picked up the pace a little too much for me. I felt strong until mile 22 and then I tanked. I was in third place until mile 25 and then Angi passed me. I was so happy for her but I was mad at myself that I couldn't go with her. I definitely need to do more long runs ending with tempo's. The last two miles were a death march. I hated feeling that way! Next time, I want to finish strong.

4th overall female, 1st in age group, 1 minute PR. Overall, it was a great day. I will have to load my splits later because my garmin is possessed again and isn't working. Thank you to everyone who sent me words of encouragement. I love this running community. Thanks to Emily, Angi, Jasmine, Cynthia, Rebekah for being such good training partners! And a BIG shout out to Coach Allie. She is the bomb diggity!

5 miles around my hood. It felt SO good to run again after taking a week off. My quads are still pretty pounded so I ran nice and slow.

Running is my therapy. Looking up at Mt. Olympus and pondering life is healing for my soul. I've had a lot on my mind lately so today was good to process through some of it.

90 minutes on the spin bike. I set it up in the backyard so I had to wear gloves and arm warmers because it was only 50 degrees. But it was awesome. Maybe I should take up biking?

I'm planning on running Pipeline tomorrow morning. My favorite trail.

8 miles along the pipeline trail up Millcreek Canyon. The trees were colorful and the sky was so blue. I ran with my phone so I could snap some pictures. I stopped 5 times. This is why I don't run with my phone.

I am missing my running buddies. I feel like everyone is recovering from their Fall races. I need some company. If anyone wants to run, let me know!

8 miles along my Holladay route. Walker Lane was glorious with yellow trees covering the street and dropping crunchy leaves to run through. Beautiful! 7:45 AP. I'm still taking it easy.

11 miles around Holladay and Murray. Beautiful day again. I didn't run until 10:00 which was nice so I could sleep in. My legs are starting to feel normal again. I had a few 7:05 miles. 7:20 AP

16 miles with Daniel. We ran from his house in Millcreek over to Sugar House, Sunnyside, up pass the zoo, Immigration (saw two coyotes and John Kotter), behind the zoo, Foothill, across Parley's and back down. Lots of hills. Daniel is an awesome hill runner. I was sucking air and he was talking like he was on a leisurely stroll. I'm hoping to hit some trails with him later this week. Super fun run and the sunrise was so gorgeous we stopped and took a mental picture (click).

10 miles with Daniel on Pipeline. Still super gorgeous up Millcreek. We discussed chocolate milk and religion. The last quarter mile before the turn around point climbed 300 feet. It was steep. Pretty sure Daniel is a mountain goat because he climbed it no problem.

8 miles in the dark. Almost got hit by two cars. You'd think my reflective vest with flashing led lights would be enough... Guess not. Defensive running is a must these days.

PM: 60 minute spin in my backyard while it was raining. I needed to clear some demons in my legs and head.

15 miles with Emily. It's been too long since we've run together. We ran a couple Wheeeler Farm loops with my Holladay loop added on. Lots of running therapy today. It was great. My running friends are the best. 7:14 AP
